Evankovich to Host Senior Citizen Expo Oct. 25
NEW KENSINGTON – State Rep. Eli Evankovich (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) today announced he is hosting his annual senior citizen expo on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Clarion Hotel, 300 Tarentum Bridge Road in New Kensington. The expo is sponsored by Alle-Kiski Medical Center.
“The expo is a great way for seniors and their families to learn more about the variety of programs and services that are available to help them live healthier, safer and more fulfilling lives,” said Evankovich. “The best part is that all of the information they need will be located in one convenient place.”
The senior expo is free and open to the public. A number of health screenings, provided by Alle-Kiski Medical Center, will be available until noon. They include:
• Blood pressure.
• Blood sugar.
• Cholesterol.
• Deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
• Kidney function (provided by DaVita).
• Memory.
• Sleep disorders.
Experts will also be in attendance to answer questions on a variety of health-related issues, such as chest pain, gastro care, healthy eating, living with chronic health failure, low vision, pre-hospital care and smoking cessation. A reiki demonstration will also take place. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
“Local seniors are welcome to stay at the expo as long as they want or for just enough time to grab a few brochures and a cup of coffee,” said Evankovich. “My staff and I are looking forward to meeting with them and their families during this worthwhile event. I encourage their attendance.”
